Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery Proven as Effective as Open Surgery, While Minimizing Risks of Collateral Damage

The Reduced Trauma of Minimally Invasive Approaches Result in Safer, More Effective Outcomes.

Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery

Internationally known neurosurgeon Gregory J. Przybylski, M.D., has led a large multidisciplinary team of physicians and scientists at the rapidly growing multidisciplinary JFK Medical Neuroscience Institute.

A significant focus of the Institute is minimally invasive surgery that combines decompression with or without fusion – a microsurgical procedure that relies on newer sophisticated instrumentation and refined techniques.

Dr. Przybylski and his team at the JFK Medical Neuroscience Institute are showing that in many cases the reduced trauma of minimally invasive approaches results in safer, more effective outcomes.

The goal of minimally invasive spine surgery (MISS) is to achieve outcomes equivalent to those of open surgery while minimizing muscle dissection, disruption of ligament attachment sites and collateral damage to soft tissues.

Dr. Przybylski and his team are trained to perform highly technical surgeries to correct disorders of the central, autonomic or peripheral nervous systems. He may provide both invasive and minimally-invasive surgical treatment options, depending upon a patient’s condition.

Dr. Przybylski has served as President of the North American Spine Society and has published many papers and book chapters on spine surgery.
