Team of clinicians works together to treat complex cranial and facial abnormalities Craniofascial Clinic

K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital is nationally recognized as an American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association (ACPA) Approved Team. For children with complex face and skull abnormalities, the Craniofacial and Cleft Center has a team of clinicians working together in the diagnosis and treatment of these abnormalities that may be caused by trauma or congenital anomalies present at birth.

Unlike other centers, at K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital, the multidisciplinary team led by pediatric and adult neurosurgeon Lawrence Daniels, M.D., and pediatric craniofacial plastic surgeon Francesco Gargano, M.D., Ph.D., are uniquely qualified to also treat patients who suffer injuries due to trauma such as dog bites or accidents.

Patients are being seen in the recently opened Dr. Robert H. Harris Neuroscience Treatment Center at Jersey Shore University Hospital where K. Hovnanian is located. A child-friendly waiting area was constructed thanks to a donation.

"This new clinical space allows us to take care of our patients in an efficient, child-friendly setting where our team continues to deliver comprehensive treatment for complex conditions," explains Dr. Daniels, who is chief of the division of Pediatric Neurosurgery at K. Hovnanian Children's Hospital.
