Health care leaders pin hopes on Gottlieb to alleviate drug pricing issue

Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Scott Gottlieb led a roundtable with U.S. Rep. Josh Gottheimer at Hackensack University Medical Center that focused on the needs of the health provider and pharmaceutical industries. According to Robert C. Garrett, co-CEO of Hackensack Meridian Health, who attended the roundtable, the event was a good opportunity for industry leaders to hear firsthand from the commissioner. Among the topics discussed - safe expediting of products and devices and drugs through the approval process. Andrew Pecora, M.D., chief innovation officer and president of Physician Enterprise at Hackensack Meridian Health also participated in the roundtable and spoke about the development of treatment systems in-house and supporting startups that could result in newer technologies.
