3-Year-Old Westchester Girl's Cancer In Remission After Undergoing New Treatment

The first two patients, including a three-year-old girl from Harrison, NY, have successfully completed a new pediatric oncology immunotherapy program offered at the Children’s Cancer Institute at the Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital. The children’s hospital is the only site in New Jersey, and one of only 31 in the nation, offering the Novartis Pharmaceutical CAR-T Cell therapy. Alfred P. Gillio, M.D., director of the Children’s Cancer Institute, says the CAR-T Cell therapy, Kymriah, was approved by the FDA to treat children and young adults who have a challenging form of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL.)
