NJ leads in preventing women from dying in childbirth. We can do more

January 23rd marks the second observance of Maternal Health Awareness Day. Hackensack Meridian Health CEO Robert C. Garrett’s op-ed focuses on an appalling health crisis – women dying of complications from pregnancy and childbirth.  Governor Phil Murphy, First Lady Tammy Murphy and the Health Commissioner Shereef Elnahal are shining a light on this critical issue to better understand what we can do as a community to raise awareness about maternal health, safety and prevent any  more women from dying in childbirth. Hackensack Meridian Health has created a blue-ribbon panel of internal and external experts to ensure our goal is aligned among clinical staff, hospital leaders and network executives.
