Excellence in Robotic Urologic Cancer Surgery
Our surgeons use the latest robotic technology and techniques to provide expert treatment for urologic cancers, including cancers of the prostate, kidney, testicle, bladder, ureter/renal pelvis, and adrenal glands.
About Robotic Surgery
During robotic surgery, your surgeon will sit at a special console and control small surgical instruments and a high-definition, three-dimensional video camera that are mounted on robotic arms. The instruments and camera will be inserted into your body through half-inch incisions.
The video camera will provide a magnified, real-time view of the surgical area that will be projected onto the control console’s video screen. While viewing the image on the video screen, your surgeon will use the controls on the console to guide the instruments and perform your surgical procedure.
Benefits of Robotic Surgery
The precision of robotic surgery allows physicians to perform complex procedures through very small incisions, avoiding the complications and longer healing time associated with traditional open surgery. Other advantages of robotic surgery include:
• Less tissue damage
• Increased surgical precision and dexterity
• Decreased blood loss (and reduced need for transfusions)
• Lower risk of infection
• Less pain after surgery
• Less internal and external scarring
• Shorter hospital stay
• Faster recovery and return to normal activities
