Tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today!

Dear Neurology Residency and Fellowship Applicant,JFK-Jawad F. Kirmani, MD Thank you for your interest in our Neurology Residency and Neuroscience Fellowships at Hackensack Meridian Health JFK University Medical Center’s Neuroscience Institute. Our programs are based out of JFK Medical Center in Edison, New Jersey, which is also home to the JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute. A vibrant and diverse community, Edison is less than one hour from New York City by train/car and only 90 minutes from Philadelphia providing suburban and metropolitan living and entertainment.

The Neuroscience Institute at JFK University Medical Center boasts a long standing tradition of excellence. Our faculty, specializing in Neurology, Neurosurgery and Basic Neuroscience — all under one roof — is comprised of 16 adult clinical neurologists in eight subspecialties whose teaching efforts are supplemented by three basic science faculty and clinical faculty in pediatric neurology, psychiatry, neuroradiology, pathology, neurosurgery, sleep medicine, physiatry, radiation oncology and pain medicine.

Our residency program is the only one in the state to offer multiple Neuroscience Fellowship Programs in Sleep Medicine, Neurocritical Care, Vascular Neurology (Stroke), Endovascular Surgical Neuroradiology and Clinical Neurophysiology. We offer a four-year “categorical” residency program, meaning you have a PGY-1 year in internal medicine guaranteed as part of your acceptance into the program.

A member of Hackensack Meridian Health, New Jersey’s largest and most comprehensive health network consisting of 3 academic medical centers, two children’s hospitals, one rehabilitation hospital and nine community hospitals, residents have access to the latest technology, education and research. As a partner with Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, we are developing new standards of cancer care not available at other New Jersey hospitals and recently we opened the first private medical school in New Jersey, The Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine where our educational programs will play a pivotal role in the training future physicians and the development of the schools departments of neurology and neurosurgery.

Ultimately, our most important assets – our medical students, residents, fellows, faculty, and staff – work together to create the highest quality educational programs. Our graduates are well prepared and go on to succeed in the many career options available to neurologists today.

Upon reviewing our program, I hope you seriously consider JFK University Medical Center’s Neuroscience Institute for your continuing educational needs. We look forward to hearing from you as you begin this exciting new phase of your career development.
