Fellowship Program Details

The JFK University Medical Center, Neuroscience Institute has fellowships in the areas of Clinical Neurophysiology, Sleep Medicine, Vascular Neurology, Neurocritical Care and Endovascular Surgical Neuroradiology. Please refer to each individual fellowship’s page section for information regarding the application procedure.  

Clinical Neurophysiology

The ACGME-accredited Clinical Neurophysiology Fellowship Program offers one position per year. Fellows will learn the principal theoretical and technical underpinnings of the clinical laboratory discipline in order to provide outstanding clinical care for the full range of electrophysiology.

Requirements for Application:
Prospective fellows must have satisfactorily completed an ACGME-accredited residency in Neurology, Child Neurology, Neurodevelopment Disabilities or Psychiatry. Please contact the program for the application.

Sleep Medicine

The ACGME and AASM-accredited Sleep Medicine Fellowship Program offers two positions per year. Board-certified faculty provides training in respiratory, neurological and behavioral disorders of adult sleep medicine with exposure to pediatric sleep medicine during the one-year fellowship.

Requirements for Application:
Prospective fellows must have satisfactorily completed an ACGME-accredited residency in any of the following specialties: Neurology, Internal Medicine, Psychiatry, Family Medicine. Applications are accepted during the July application cycle via the Electronic Residency Application Service and all positions are offered through the National Resident Matching Program. The deadline for applications is August 30th of each year, but prospective fellows are encouraged to apply as early as possible. All interviews are scheduled from August to September. We sponsor J1 visas.

Vascular Neurology

The ACGME-accredited Vascular Neurology Fellowship Program offers two positions per year. The program is geared towards the development of clinical scientists fully competent in the practice of Vascular Neurology. Upon completion of the one-year fellowship, the fellow will have an understanding of the principal theoretical and technical underpinnings of Vascular Neurology.

Requirements for Application:
Prospective fellows must have satisfactorily completed an ACGME-accredited residency in Neurology. Applications are accepted during the December application cycle via the Electronic Residency Application Service and all positions are offered through the National Resident Matching Program. Prospective fellows are encouraged to apply as early as possible. All interviews are scheduled from February to April. We sponsor J1 visas.

Neurocritical Care

The UCNS-accredited Neurocritical Care Fellowship Program offers two positions per year. The program consists of close collaborative relationships with neurosurgery, neurology neuroradiology, anesthesia critical care and pulmonary critical care which allows fellows to comprehensively learn all aspects of Neurocritical Care.

Requirements for Application:
Prospective fellows must have satisfactorily completed an ACGME-accredited residency in Neurology, Neurological Surgery, Internal Medicine, Anesthesiology, Surgery or Emergency Medicine. Applications are accepted and all positions offered via the SF Match. Prospective fellows are encouraged to apply as early as possible. All interviews are scheduled from February to April. We sponsor J1 visas.

Endovascular Surgical Neuroradiology

The two-year Endovascular Surgical Neuroradiology Fellowship emphasizes endovascular procedures including catheter-based thrombolysis, embolization and stent placement for various neurovascular diseases, tumors and spinal vascular problems.

Requirements for Application:
Prospective fellows must have satisfactorily completed an ACGME-accredited residency in Neurology and ACGME-accredited fellowship in Vascular Neurology. Please contact the program for the application. We sponsor J1 visas.

Combined Track - 3 Fellowships

The combined track allows the fellow to complete Vascular Neurology, Neurocritical Care and Endovascular Surgical Neuroradiology in 4 years. The first year is in Vascular Neurology followed by two years of Neurocritical Care. Fellows are involved in Interventional procedures all years and focus on intervention only in the final year.

Prospective fellows must have satisfactorily completed an ACGME-accredited residency in Neurology. Applications are accepted during the Vascular Neurology December application cycle via the Electronic Residency Application Service and all positions are offered through the National Resident Matching Program. Please indicate interest in the combined program in your personal statement. Prospective fellows are encouraged to apply as early as possible. All interviews are scheduled from February to April. We sponsor J1 visas.
