Your Cancer Team
A Comprehensive Assessment and Customized Treatment
Your multidisciplinary team carefully evaluates your test results and considers other health issues you may have when making a diagnosis and choosing the most effective treatment. Many blood disorders are secondary to other primary medical problems, such as kidney and liver diseases or rheumatological/autoimmune disorders. If we find that this is the case, we’ll refer you to other specialists at Hackensack University Medical Center who are experts in managing those disorders.
Referral to Stem Cell Transplantation
Some people with blood disorders that cannot be effectively treated with medications or transfusions need a stem cell transplant. For more than 25 years, doctors in the Adult Blood and Marrow Stem Cell Transplantation Program at John Theurer Cancer Center have provided this lifesaving therapy. With over 6,000 transplants since 1990 and more than 400 every year, we have one of the largest and most experienced transplantation programs in the United States. We can connect you with this program if a stem cell transplant is an option for you.
