Medical Education Track

Medical Education Track at HUMC IM Residency

The Hackensack University Medical Center Internal Medicine Residency program is proud to offer the Medical Education Track to our PGY 2 and PGY 3 residents with an interest in becoming clinician educators and in creating a scholarly project to improve graduate medical education over one or two years.

Residents can expect to receive education and experiential learning opportunities in subjects not limited to: medical education research methods, mentorship and coaching of medical students, bedside clinical teaching, large group teaching, and problem based curriculum facilitation at Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine.

Applications are accepted until April 30 of each academic year and applicants are required to complete their PGY 1 year and demonstrate the ability to handle the additional responsibilities of the track.

Our program has completed its first iteration in the 2022-2023 academic year and continues to grow along with our excellent residents!

Primary Care Track

For our residents interested in pursuing a career in Primary Care after residency, we customize their electives to focus on outpatient settings and offer additional half day sessions in specialty clinics, such as Dermatology, Gynecology, Obesity. We also offer an additional rotation at a secondary primary care site during their ambulatory blocks. This specialized track allows the residents to gain comprehensive exposure to diverse primary care settings, refining their skills and preparing them for a successful career in this essential field.

POCUS Track

We are excited to have launched our Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) track in the academic year 2024-2025, a new program inspired by our residents' enthusiasm and growing interest in ultrasound.
