Why JSUMC? Supportive residents, cooperative learning and working environment, wanted to be close to home, wanted to be close to the beach and I loved my time here as a student.


Maria Kapousidis MD

Career Interest: Cardiology, Neonatology
Fun Fact: I love adrenaline sports/activities like skydiving, parasailing, roller coasters, etc.
Why JSUMC? I rotated here as a student giving me a firsthand experience to see that this group respected and supported each other through good and bad times! Also, the attendings are dedicated to aiding the residents in their learning and challenging them to meet their full potential and that was important to me when picking a program!

Fun Fact: I took a cooking class in Italy!
Why JSUMC? I rotated at JSUMC as a student and I loved my experience. The JSUMC pediatric residency program felt like a close knit family and was a supportive environment that I wanted to be a part of.

Career Interest: Neonatology, Development/Behavior
Fun Fact: I once found David Henrie’s passport in an airport in Rome (and returned it of course!)
Why JSUMC? When I finished my interview at JSUMC, I could not wipe the smile off my face for hours. All of the faculty and residents that I spoke with made me feel comfortable and welcome. JSUMC is a place where you get to work and learn alongside family.


Nidhi Mistry DO

Career Interest: General Pediatrics, Hematology/Oncology
Fun Fact: I am very talented at binge watching new Netflix shows!
Why JSUMC? As a NJ native, I was looking for a medium-sized program, close to my family, that gave me strong faculty guidance and autonomy to grow. I value good work-life balance and even as an intern I’m happy to say that I get many weekends off to live my life outside of work! Living by the beach is always a plus, too!

Fun Fact: I did competitive bowling in college - my high game is 289!
Why JSUMC? Exposure to diverse pathology and patient population, great program culture, and the opportunity to serve the community I grew up in!

Career Interest: Pediatric Critical Care
Fun Fact: I’ve seen the band Phish over 100 times in the past 20 years!
Why JSUMC? I did my third and fourth year rotations as a medical student at JSUMC. It just felt like a family. The residents were all so supportive of each other and were fully supported by all of the faculty. I got along really well with the whole department, from the nurses, techs and other staff to the residents and attendings.


Shanell Tulloch MD
Shanell Tulloch, M.D.

Career Interest: Possibly NICU or Pediatric EM
Fun Fact: I am of Jamaican descent. I love to travel, try new foods, and enjoy entertaining family and friends. Oh, I also like to binge watch murder-themed shows!
Why JSUMC? Although I was not able to rotate here beforehand, during my interview the PD and APD really made me feel welcomed. They seemed easy to talk to and down to earth. Also, since I love to eat, the good cafeteria food and large meal stipends they told us about were the cherries on the top!

Why JSUMC? I loved how close the residents were to each other. It really seemed like they were a family to me. I also liked how close the residents were to the program leadership.

Why JSUMC? My sister received such great care at JSUMC and associated practices during some difficult times in her life. I wanted to learn from and be part of the knowledgeable community that affected my family’s lives in a positive way.
