What to Expect During Your Visit

Here’s a simple outline of what usually happens during your visit:

  1. Identify the issue – We begin by determining whether you’re dealing with allergies, asthma, or an immune condition.

  2. Physical exam – An allergist-immunologist performs a full exam.

  3. Detailed interview – You’ll review your medical and family history, plus your home and work environments.

  4. Diagnosis – Your doctor explains what’s causing your symptoms.

  5. Personalized treatment plan – You’ll go over a care plan designed specifically for your needs.

Pre Appointment Guide

Prior to you appointment, we request that you review the below medication guide as you may need to discontinue these medications for 5-7 days prior to your appointment. Also please refrain from wearing any perfume or cologne in our facility as our patients may have symptoms flare from the exposure.

Patients with Asthma

If you are coming to the Center for evaluation of cough, asthma or reactive airway disease, please do not take your bronchodilators on the day of your visit.

If you have severe symptomatic asthma continue your medications. These include:

Before your visit, you may need to stop certain medications for a few days, so the testing works as expected. The office also asks that you avoid wearing perfume or cologne because some patients may react to strong scents. You can also view our medication guide for more information. If you’re not sure about any medication, you can call the office to check.

During your visit, the team checks what may be causing your symptoms. You’ll have a full exam, talk through your health history and daily surroundings, and get a clear explanation of what might be triggering your allergies, asthma, or immune issues. Your doctor will also review a treatment plan that is made just for you.

If you’re coming to the Paramus office for cough, asthma, or reactive airway symptoms, you should not take your bronchodilators on the day of your visit. If your asthma is severe and you rely on certain daily inhalers, you should continue taking those medicines as usual.
