At our comprehensive care center we have an integrated team dedicated to treating all forms demyelinating and autoimmune conditions that affect your brain, optic nerves and spinal cord - not just multiple sclerosis. We treat Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Neuromyelitis Optica (NMO), Myelin Oligodendrocyte Glycoprotein Antibody Disease Disorder (MOGAD), optic neuritis, transverse myelitis, acute disseminated encephalomyelitis, neurosarcoidosis and autoimmune encephalitis.

Clinical Research

In the last 30 years, MS care has gone from treating symptoms to preventing any disability at all. In the last 15 years , genes linked to MS, the role of diet and our gut have been clarified. None of that is possible without research. 

The research division at Hackensack University Medical Center has goals of: 

  • Tracking changes we see during your visit and linking them to factors we can change through studies such as registries or markers in your blood. 
  • Working with other esteemed institutions and researchers to find medications to help reach the goal of preventing and curing MS. 
  • Enroll patients of all backgrounds in the latest clinical trials

Your Treatment Plan

When you come to our Center, we will partner with you to make a personalized treatment plan based on your main concerns, medical history, a thorough examination, MRI findings, life situation and other factors. 

Your treatment plan will focus on improving the following:

MS medications are utilized to manage symptoms, treat relapses, and reduce the number of attacks and/or slow the progression of the disease.

Our center is led by Krupa Pandey, M.D., director of the MS Center and director of clinical trials at Hackensack University Medical Center, and Florian P. Thomas, M.D., Ph.D., founder of the MS Center and chair of the Department of Neurology and Neuroscience Institute at Hackensack University Medical Center.
