Hackensack Meridian Health Additional Financial Assistance Information
Hackensack Meridian Health must charge for services rendered. The exact charges will depend on the extent of the services rendered by your doctor and clinical team.
It is your responsibility to provide us with accurate information about your insurance (Medicaid, Medicare, Managed Medicaid, Commercial) so that your insurance can be billed correctly.
Patients who are not covered by insurance will be asked to pay an upfront reduced rate for any services that are needed. These fees are available upon request. Patients paying at the time of their visit will be charged a flat rate.
The Affordable Care Act is the nation’s health reform law enacted in March 2010. The ACA’s Health Insurance Marketplace gives NJ individuals and families a new option to purchase health insurance. If you don’t have insurance or your insurance doesn’t cover all of the costs, there are federal and state sources of financial assistance that may be available to you. Eligibility requirements and the application process may be different depending upon the program. We specialize in state and federal programs that are available to help New Jersey residents. Each Counselor is a CMS Certified Application Counselor and can assist you in completing your Marketplace (during open enrollment) and NJ Family Care applications. When you meet with a Financial Assistance Counselor, he/she will evaluate you for each program and answer any questions that you may have.
Unlike the state and federal programs which provide ongoing coverage for healthcare services including physician services and drugs, Charity Care is designed to provide assistance to cover the costs of hospital services only. To apply for Charity Care, you must have a scheduled appointment in the hospital within 30 days or have received a hospital bill within the last 12 months and applied for all other programs available. You should know that your immigration status doesn’t matter when you apply for Charity Care – it will not affect your eligibility. If no other options are available to you, Meridian’s Financial Assistance Team will assist you in completing a Charity Care application.
It is your responsibility to submit all additional documents that have been requested for any of the applications. If you paid for any services provided and are approved for any financial assistance programs, you will receive a refund of the paid applicable fees.
