ABSN Employment Bonus Program
Hackensack Meridian Health has launched the ABSN Employment Bonus Program to provide financial relief for students seeking a rewarding career in nursing. Through the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) Employment Bonus Program, students can receive up to $35,000 to help pay tuition or loans and alleviate the burden of debt as they advance their nursing education. In return, recipients must pledge to work at Hackensack Meridian Health in a full-time acute-care or home-care nursing role for a minimum three years upon graduation from an accredited New Jersey ABSN program. By offering talented nursing students the financial support, training and first-destination career opportunities they need, Hackensack Meridian Health will improve patient outcomes and boldly transform the nursing profession to deliver the highest quality humanistic care. The Ann May Center for Nursing and Allied Health
The Ann May Center for Nursing and Allied Health (AMC) promotes excellence in nursing and allied health through education and research. The AMC conducts educational counseling and enrichment programs for nursing and allied health staff; provides financial support for nurses and nursing students through scholarships and grants; strives to establish Hackensack Meridian Health as a premier site for the clinical education of nursing students; promotes evidence based practice; and coordinates and conducts research on workforce and patient care issues. New Graduate Nurse Residency program
From day one, we are dedicated to supporting the careers of our nurses – especially our newest nurses. To help bridge the gap between classroom and career, we created the New Graduate Nursing Residency Program. Open to graduating nursing students of accredited institutions, this 12-month program allows residents to have supplemental learning, interactive chats and increased support to ease the transition into nursing practice. The residency includes:
- Three 12-hour shifts per week on the unit the nurse is hired to
- Three Experience days to observe other units
- Bimonthly case studies to promote critical thinking
- Frequent communication and support from administration and educators
- One-to One Meetings with Program Director
- Live Journal Club
- Educational Modules
- Peer support for professional growth and promoting self care

Student Nurse Externship Program
This 10-week Externship Program offers nursing students an opportunity to earn while learning. Students are oriented and provided training in select skills. Under the direction of a registered nurse preceptor, student nurses practice selected skills and gain confidence in the acute care environment. You must be currently matriculated in a Board of Nursing approved BSN Program to qualify and be eligible to begin the final (senior) year of the respective nursing program.
Nurse Practitioner Residency Program
Hackensack Meridian Health is proud to be one of the first Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Residency/Fellowship Programs in New Jersey. We are honored to be chosen as one of 36 programs in the United States to receive a grant from Health Resources and Service Administration (HRSA) Advanced Nursing Education (ANE). The purpose of the HRSA-ANE Grant is to increase the number of Advanced Practice Nurse primary care providers in community-based settings.In partnership with our academic partner, Monmouth University, we have created a rigorous nurse-practitioner residency program in community based primary care practices in NJ Counties of Atlantic, Monmouth, Ocean, Middlesex and Bergen. This program is a paid, one-year, full time commitment designed to provide the new NP Clinician with a unique educational opportunity to focus on clinical experience in outpatient primary care, specialty medical practices, psychiatry and urgent care centers specific to the Nurse Practitioner’s Population Foci.
Registered Nurse Clinical Advancement Program (RN CAP)
Our new Registered Nurse Clinical Advancement Program (RN CAP) is designed to recognize nursing excellence through a points based system that aligns with our nursing strategic plan and Professional Practice Model.
Purpose:
Through this voluntary advancement and compensation program, Hackensack Meridian Health is able to reward and recognize exemplary practices, provide additional opportunities for growth and advancement, and acknowledge clinical expertise at the bedside/clinical setting.
Objectives:
- To enhance patient care through clinical excellence.
- To improve job satisfaction and the nurse’s engagement to the organization.
- To provide opportunities to enhance professional development and encourage the development of clinical expertise.

The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Certification Program
The ANCC Certification Program offers nurses the opportunity to advance their careers through the achievement of certifications. Through certification, nurses are able to demonstrate their specialty expertise and validate their knowledge. Learn more

Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) are clinical partners that nurses rely heavily upon to ensure quality, highly reliable patient care.
