Hematology Oncology Fellowship | Hackensack University Medical Center

Welcome Message from the Program Director

Thank you for your interest in the Hematology and Medical Oncology Fellowship Program at Hackensack University Medical Center.

Established in 2023 our Fellowship Program seeks to equip the next generation of physicians with the knowledge and skills needed to provide compassionate and comprehensive care for patients with hematologic and neoplastic disorders. We recognize that hematology/oncology is in a period of dramatic evolution and, as such, the tools required are similarly evolving. We also believe there are many ways to be a leader in our field today, and tomorrow. It is our privilege to train our future leaders and facilitate the realization of their unique aspirations.

At our fellowship program’s core are four interconnected principles: exceptional clinical care, social awareness, communication, and scholarship. We offer fellows the opportunity to hone their craft and embody these principles through clinical, educational, and scholarly experiences at a leading cancer center, serving a large and diverse patient population, amid a supportive, multidisciplinary culture.

John Theurer Cancer Center at Hackensack University Medical Center

The flagship anchor of cancer care at Hackensack Meridian Health, John Theurer Cancer Center at Hackensack University Medical Center is New Jersey’s most comprehensive cancer program and one of the most prominent programs nationwide, with more than 1,200 team members collaborating in a highly subspecialized and multidisciplinary environment. JTCC is part of the National Cancer Institute–designated Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center. Our institutions, which began their collaboration in 2015, share passion and expertise in research, which help to develop new therapies and understand cancer at the population level. Fellows will participate in the care of patients receiving treatment on numerous clinical trials, including phase I therapeutics and novel cell-based therapies, and have the opportunity to collaborate with investigators across the consortium, including translational and laboratory-based scientists at Hackensack Meridian Health’s Center for Discovery and Innovation.
