OBGYN Residency Program | Hackensack University Medical Center

Welcome Message from the Program Director

Shelly Saber MD It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the Ob/Gyn Residency Program at Hackensack University Medical Center. We have been given a remarkable opportunity to start a new residency program and I am both honored and humbled to be the founding Program Director.

We are an ACGME accredited Obstetrics & Gynecology Residency with 16 categorical resident positions. The founding faculty and I have taken this opportunity to design an innovative curriculum that preserves and enhances the essential elements of experiential learning in a state-of-the-art hospital with cutting-edge technology, while incorporating team-based learning and clinical simulations. Residents are integrated into a robust culture of patient safety and engage in an interdisciplinary approach to patient care. The curriculum has been developed to maximize learning, team-work and innovation. Our residents are partners in these endeavors.

Our mission is to train physicians with a passion to become the best Obstetrician and Gynecologists. We accomplish this by recruiting highly-motivated candidates who appreciate the patient-centered and team-approach to medical training. We are looking for physicians who love to learn, welcome challenge, embrace diversity and aspire to excellence. We provide you with the tools, resources and opportunities to flourish. A successful residency program at its core places the resident first. We encourage residents to be the fabric of our evaluation, review and promotion process and rely upon constant feedback from them to create ongoing, positive changes.

We believe that residents who shape their program in this way remain active learners throughout the educational experience. On behalf of the founding faculty, I welcome you to discover what Hackensack University Medical Center offers and invite you to be part of our new Graduate Medical Education Program.
