JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute

A major component of JFK University Medical Center, JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute is nationally known for its comprehensive programs that maximize independence in children and adults with disabilities. It has 94 inpatient beds and extensive outpatient care and subacute rehabilitation services. JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute is licensed by the state and accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and the Committee on Accreditation of Rehabilitation. Among the Institute’s specialty programs are pediatrics, vocational and industrial rehabilitation services, after care stroke recovery, speech and audiology evaluation and treatment, sports medicine, driver training and a prosthetics and orthotics laboratory. The Center for Head Injuries is regarded nationally as a pioneer in head trauma evaluation and treatment. JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute also serves as the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department of the Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in Piscataway and New Brunswick, New Jersey, and of the Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine in Nutley, New Jersey..

Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH)

NEW BRUNSWICK, NEW JERSEY

RWJUH is a Level I Trauma Center offering physiatry consultation services. Residents receive considerable exposure to individuals who have experienced trauma, spinal cord injury, head injury, stroke, chronic pain, cancer and amputation, as well as patients with many other general rehabilitation needs. Residents also participate in the RWJ Rheumatology Clinic.

JFK University Medical Center

EDISON, NEW JERSEY

Residents participate in physiatry consults at JFK’s 493-bed facility, which provides a wide spectrum of both inpatient and outpatient programs accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. Key programs include the Cancer Center, featuring state-of-the-art diagnosis and treatment of cancer; the Neuroscience Institute at JFK, which diagnoses, treats and studies complex neurological disease; the Center for Behavioral Health, providing outpatient treatment of mental health and substance abuse problems; and the Family Practice Center, which trains physicians in family medicine. Each year, the JFK University Medical Center records approximately 20,000 admissions, nearly 2,000 births and more than 40,000 emergency room visits.

St. Peter’s Medical Center

NEW BRUNSWICK, NEW JERSEY

Consultation services are provided at St. Peter’s Medical Center by residents in the areas of cancer rehabilitation, general rehabilitation, and EMGs. Services are also provided at St. Peter’s extensive Wound Care Clinic and Prosthetic and Orthotic Clinic.

Children’s Specialized Hospital

MOUNTAINSIDE, NEW JERSEY

The Children’s Specialized Hospital pediatric facility provides comprehensive rehabilitation to children in the central New Jersey area. Treatment is provided on both an inpatient and outpatient basis through EMG, P&O, spasticity management and neurology and orthopedic clinics.

JFK Hartwyck Nursing, Convalescent and Rehabilitation Centers

MIDDLESEX COUNTY, NEW JERSEY

JFK Hartwyck is a non-profit, long-term care facility in Middlesex County, New Jersey. It provides skilled nursing services and a wide range of specialized programs in pleasant, comfortable surroundings. The facility is complemented by the medical and rehabilitation services offered by HMH JFK Medical Center and the JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute. Specialized programs include subacute rehabilitation, extended recovery and transitional living through the Center for Head Injuries and long-term ventilation care. It is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.

New Jersey Orthopedic Sports and Spine

EDISON, NEW JERSEY

Residents are exposed to MSK, Orthopedic and Interventional Joint Injection Procedures at this location. They are trained by a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon who is Fellowship Trained in Sports Medicine. There is a major focus on joint replacements as well.
