Recipe: Healthy Frozen Yogurt Treats

September 17, 2025
Looking for a sweet way to cool down without reaching for store-bought ice cream? These frozen yogurt treats are creamy, chocolatey and surprisingly good for you. John Theurer Cancer Center dietitian Taylor Carlyle shared this recipe in the Culinary Medicine Kitchen as an easy, refreshing option for the whole family.
Ingredients
Makes about 12-15 bites
- 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
- ¼ cup peanut butter (or nut butter of choice)
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- ¾ cup chocolate chips
- 1 teaspoon avocado oil
- Sea salt for sprinkling (optional)
Preparation
- In a mixing bowl, combine yogurt, peanut butter, maple syrup and vanilla until creamy.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Scoop about 1 tablespoon of the mixture onto the sheet at a time. Freeze for about 4 hours.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, melt chocolate chips and avocado oil in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
- Dip frozen yogurt bites into the chocolate to coat. Sprinkle with sea salt if desired.
Pro tip: Coating can get messy! For a quicker version, just drizzle the melted chocolate on top instead. It may not look perfect, but it’s just as delicious.
