The work of our more than 8,600 nurses extends way beyond the essential role they play providing care to our patients at the bedside.- Displaying the compassion the nursing profession is renowned for, Hackensack Meridian nurses live our mission of humanizing care as they so bravely ensure that no patient dies alone.

New Career Initiative
Nursing is at the heart of health care. Nurses interact with patients 24 hours a day, providing extraordinary clinical care while acting as caregiver, advocate, intermediary and counselor. Nursing staff are the key to successful outcomes, engaging with the patient, their families, physicians and technicians at every turn. Hackensack Meridian is seeking funds to support an innovative nursing recruitment program. Through the New Career Initiative, Hackensack Meridian will provide loan forgiveness incentives to talented students in accelerated degree programs in exchange for a three-year commitment to work within the Hackensack Meridian Health network. Providing a pipeline for new nursing talent enhances our ability to provide exceptional patient care. By offering the best nursing students the financial support, training and first-destination career opportunities they need, Hackensack Meridian will improve patient outcomes and boldly transform the nursing profession to deliver the highest quality, humanistic care.Sheila Cancro Institute for Nursing Leadership and Practice Excellence
Building on its strong foundation of nursing excellence and innovation, Hackensack Meridian has launched the Sheila Cancro Institute for Nursing Leadership and Practice Excellence to advance its mission of humanizing care through the art and science of nursing. As one fully integrated entity, the Institute will effectively align nursing practice across the network, providing infrastructure, support and advocacy for Hackensack Meridian Health nurses as they advance their careers, education and research.
