Over the last decade, the U.S. Government has grown more concerned over the threat of undue foreign government influence on the U.S research enterprise.
- National Security Presidental Memo - 33 (2021)
- CHIPS and Science Act (2022)
- Executive Order 14081 - Advancing
Biotechnology and Biomanufacturing (2023) - Preventing Access to US Sensitive
Personal Data (2025)
In response, federal agencies and funders are requiring institutions to implement training and compliance programming to address these concerns and ensure a robust export control compliance program.
At HMH, all foreign activities and sponsored travel must be disclosed as part of the annual research disclosure. These activities are reviewed and if needed, additional approvals may be required.
