Green Cleaning with Meaning
The Deirdre Imus Environmental Health Center® is dedicated to ensuring children live the healthiest lives possible – today, tomorrow, and decades from now. In her quest to clean up the environment for our kids, Deirdre developed the award-winning Greening The Cleaning® program in 2001 in partnership with Hackensack University Medical Center. Since then, it has become a springboard for other health care facilities, schools and businesses to improve their indoor environment by implementing green cleaning initiatives.
The products have evolved over the years but the mission of the Greening The Cleaning® program remains unchanged: to provide cleaning products that deliver the maximum level of efficacy at the least level of toxicity. This mission in action supports the Center’s goal: to identify, control and ultimately prevent toxic exposures in the environment that threaten our children's health.
Simply choosing GTC® products supports environmental health research and education at the Center and creates meaningful employment opportunities at the Central Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
Our Purpose
The Greening The Cleaning® program has always been about improving the immediate environment of a hospital, office building, or school, but also the larger environment we all share. 100% of all profits from GTC® products go to The Deirdre Imus Environmental Health Center® for supporting the Greening The Cleaning® program, in addition to funding education and research.
As part of one of the nation's premier research and teaching hospitals, The Deirdre Imus Environmental Health Center® aligns with Hackensack University Medical Center’s commitment to discovering effective disease treatment and prevention strategies. Our research explores everyday environmental exposures that translate findings into real-world solutions through community outreach, and clinical education with the goal of improving public health, one child at a time.
