Weekend Codependency Program
What is Codependency?
Though every good relationship involves a degree of reliance on one another, codependency takes it to a dysfunctional extreme. People who are codependent devote themselves to meeting the needs of someone who is incapable of appreciating them, in the process allowing themselves to be abused in numerous ways. Codependents mean well and believe they are helping by making excuses, looking the other way, and “riding to the rescue,” but in reality they are simply enabling the dysfunctional situation to continue. Simply recognizing and acknowledging codependent patterns are big accomplishments and constitute the necessary first step in transforming them.Weekend Codependency Program
Blake Recovery Center at Carrier Clinic® provides free support groups for family members, significant others, and friends whose lives are impacted by another’s addiction. This includes a Weekend Codependency Program with therapeutic, educational, and guidance components. Recovering individuals may also attend.Components of the six-week series (though many continue to come after that time as needed) include educational lectures, discussion groups (including a parents group), informational videos, and the opportunity to meet with addiction treatment professionals.
