We Help People with Disabilities Improve Their Life and Work Skills

Our Vocational Rehabilitation Programs offer individuals with disabilities the opportunity to improve their personal and life skills and learn about their career options. The goal of the program is to help our clients find employment and live independently. Additionally, our high school program provides students in transition with occupational and life skills, including:
  • Learning to use transportation
  • Learning about technology and assistive devices
  • Acquiring self-advocacy skills
  • Social practices and recreational activities
  • Money management
  • Self-care routines
  • Job-seeking skill building

Program Options for Vocational Rehabilitation

Our team works with each client to determine their interests and abilities, before developing a plan to help them achieve their career goals.

Specialized programs include:

Career development counseling: We work with our clients to determine their best career options based on their interests and skill level.

Career development program for adults: Offers opportunities to try different work situations in a real work environment within the hospital and with nearby community organizations and businesses.

Career Options Day: An annual job event that offers employment opportunities and career information for people with disabilities.

Computer applications training program: Prepares students for the Microsoft Office Specialist certification exam.

Employment practices training: We teach our clients the skills, habits, and behavior required to be successful in the workplace.

Individual and group counseling: We offer one-on-one and peer-to-peer counseling and support to help manage the transition to work.

Job skills training: We offer a range of job skills training options based on the client’s interests and skill set.

Laboratory Assistant Training Program: This program prepares individuals for entry level work in a laboratory environment. Graduates are eligible to sit for the ASCP certification exam after six months on the job.

Money management training: [High School Students] We provide clients with training on how to budget, save and manage their money.

Our vocational rehabilitation program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), ensuring that our program meets national quality standards. We coordinate with the local Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services (DVRS) to provide in-school transition services tailored to the needs of the school and students.

Our team of vocational counselors, occupational therapists, professional instructors and rehabilitation assistants works with each individual to determine their interests and abilities before developing a plan to help them achieve their career goals. We offer individual and group counseling to help our clients manage the transition to work and receive the support they need to be successful.

Innovation

Our curriculum includes opportunities for short-term, on-the-job work experience for both adults and high school age students (15 – 21 years old) and career mentoring provided by professionals in their respective fields. Job training includes a lab assistant program and a computer applications program; MS Office 2016.
